The Foot and Toe Guard is a high-density polymer foot and toe covering designed to be worn on top of regular turf shoes.
No need for heavy expensive plate shoes. It weighs less than 5 ounces and can be left on while doing the base’s. It also protects the metacarpal, which most plate shoes don not. There are two options when attaching The Foot and Toe Guard to the turf shoes. The more permanent attachment is using the zip tie and the other option is using laces for easy removal.
The Foot and Toe Guard is designed to employ anatomical knowledge and understanding to mitigate the severity of hits to the foot and toe during umpiring behind the plate.

Use
The Foot and Toe Guard is designed to reduce the risk of high-speed impacts common behind the plate. According to studies conducted using a CADEX Linear Impact Testing Machine at two major universities, the Foot and Toe Guard can reduce the energy of a kinetic impact by up to 70 percent. The Foot and Toe Guard works by absorbing and redistributing the kinetic energy of an impact that could otherwise lead to a potential toe and metacarpal injury.
Material
The Foot and Toe Guard is made of a proprietary high-density thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) with Aircell polymers. It weighs 5 ounces. It reforms after every impact, providing continual protection. The material is tough, lightweight, and waterproof, which allows it to be used in all conditions.
