The Head Net™ is a high-density polymer head covering designed to be worn underneath a helmet, hat, or other head covering. It comes with a washable headband that slips easily around the head for a comfortable fit.
The Head Net™ is designed to employ anatomical knowledge and understanding to mitigate the severity of blows to the head. Creating a rapid distribution of the force of the impact over the skull, utilizing a patented, light material that reconstitutes immediately, the Head Net™ dissipates the force to a lower peak for a longer period of time, reducing impact severity and head injury criterion (HIC).
The Head Net™'s shock-absorbing design comes from studying the brain and skull of the woodpecker and longhorn sheep. Their skulls are designed to absorb and distribute impacts throughout the entire area of the head (360 degrees) rather than directly at the point of impact. The Head Net™ uses a patented square grid-like design based on these animals’ shock-absorbing anatomy.
The Head Net™ is designed to reduce the risk of concussion from high-speed impacts common in many modern sports. According to studies conducted using a CADEX Linear Impact Testing Machine at two major universities, the Head Net™ can reduce the energy of a kinetic impact by up to 70 percent. The Head Net™ works by absorbing and redistributing the kinetic energy of an impact that could otherwise lead to a potential brain injury.
The Head Net™ can be worn by itself or under standard sports head coverings.
The Head Net™ is made of a proprietary high-density thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) with Aircell polymers. It weighs between four and six ounces, depending on the size and style. It reforms after every impact, providing continual protection. The material is tough, lightweight, and waterproof, which allows it to be used for both land and water-based high-impact sports.
To ensure an optimal fit, use a flexible measuring tape that is marked in inches. Position the tape where you want the Head Net™ to sit, usually just above the ears and eyebrows. Mark where the tape overlaps, and that will provide you with your head circumference. Match that number with the proper size listed below.
Note: if you are planning on wearing the Head Net™ under a fitted baseball cap or helmet, ensure your headgear is one size larger.
